FAQ's

1. What does aqupool actually do?

Traditionally, pool owners will test their pool water and add balance chemicals as required, possibly only two or three times a year - most likely following the winter months when the pool is not used. Besides sanitation (Chlorination) the most important part of water treatment is water balance. aqupool is specially formulated to continually provide even balance thereby protecting your pool surface from scale buildup or corrosion. It’s intended to provide even salinity for chlorine production, balance to protect your pool surface and equipment, and flocculation to drop out suspended particles from pool water.  It will also transform your pool from a saltwater pool into a magnesium mineral enriched pool without the high cost of alternative mineral conversion options currently available.

2.  How often do I need to use aqupool?

If you are a first time user of aqupool, it is best to have the pool free from debris and algae and chemically balanced before applying. aqupool is designed to be administered once monthly. Select a day of the month to apply aqupool, either the first or last day of the month is generally best as it is easily remembered.

3. How do I test my pool?

You only need to test your pool once a month, preferably close to the same
date of the month. Use one of the supplied test strips in the vial. Dip it into the
pool and compare the results against the colour chart provided.
Comprehensive test instructions are contained on How to use section

4. What if I don’t need aqupool this month?

You will probably find that after several continual monthly applications of  aqupool, the test results on the colour chart will indicate that its safe to skip that months application. Skipping an application as indicated is okay but it is good practice to still give the sand filter a good backwash or clean the cartridge filter as previously recommended. When the next application date is due, repeat sand filter backwash or cartridge filter clean and then test and compare results against colour chart. Resume monthly application or increase number of boxes as indicated, relevant to your results and pool size. If in doubt, it's safer to administer aqupool than to leave out.

5. Can I use aqupool if I haven't got my pool tested and balanced?

aqupool is a water maintenance and magnesium mineral pool conversion product.  Ensure your pool water is correctly balanced & treat any pool water problems before applying. Issues including green water, algae and/or calcium build up must be attended to before beginning your maintenance plan.

6. Can I use aqupool in a non salt water pool?

aqupool was specifically formulated for saltwater pools but you can use in pools where liquid or granular chlorine is manually or automatically induced into the pool. Of course, we highly recommend that you consider installing a salt water chlorinator.

7. Why are there 2 conjoined bags of product in every aqupool carton?

Some chemicals are not compatible with each other. By separating certain components of the blend, we can provide risk free easy monthly application of aqupool.

8. How do I lower pH?

If you do not have an automatic pH controller attached to your pool, you can lower pH by manually dosing hydrochloric acid into your pool. Always add small amounts of 400ml at a time with the pump running and continue application until correct pH reading is achieved. Hydrochloric acid (or pool acid) can be purchased from any hardware or pool store.

9. Why has my pool has gone cloudy after applying aqupool?

aqupool contains powerful flocculating agents and clarifiers to enhance water quality. Sometimes the pool water will go cloudy however that will clear up with normal filtration within a day or two. Always backwash your sand filter or if you have a cartridge filter, clean or replace the cartridge as normal.

10. Why has my pool have some light brown sediment on the bottom?

After application of aqupool, the flocculating agents may leave a light sediment on the bottom of your pool . This is completely normal and can be removed with manual vacuuming or with a suction cleaner. If you have a robotic cleaner, clean the residue from the robotic cleaner bag before reusing. Backwash sand filter or clean cartridge filter after sediment is removed from pool.

11. Will I need to put extra salt into the pool?

aqupool has the appropriate amount of salt blend that your pool requires monthly. There should be no need to dose your pool with extra salt if you maintain regular monthly dosing.
